Sally Hansen Color Frenzy | Swatches & Review

Today I have some gorgeous Sally Hansen polishes from their brand new Color Frenzy collection to show you! There are six colours to choose from (I've swatched four of them) and if you're in New Zealand you can buy them from Farmers and selected pharmacies for $11.99.

First up, we have Candy Drops - which boasts pink hex, pink bar and tiny holographic glitter. As is the rest of this collection, it's a top coat and looks best with a colour underneath. I chose to layer it over Fairy Floss by Picture Polish, and I think they look so pretty together! This is just one coat of Candy Drops.

Fruit Spritz is my favourite, and I think it looks amazing over the top of Picture Polish Tiffany. This was two coats of it. I found it a little harder to spread than the others, but even so I managed to get the glitter placed pretty evenly without much trouble, just some light dabbing. I think the polish has something of an Autumn/Fall theme, maybe Spring; there are shades of orange, yellow, green and white in the mix.

I've layered Spark and Pepper both over a white polish and a black polish, but I'd love to see it over something bright. It's made up of small black and white hex glitter, long black bar glitter and holographic shards, in all kind of shapes. I must admit I found this the most frustrating of the four, as I think holographic glitter looks best over black but as you can see (and well, obviously), when it's layered over black you can't see the black! This is one coat layered over Black Lingerie by Revlon.

I think it's a bit crowded and plain layered over white, and you can't see the lighter glitter. This is two coats. Maybe I was just feeling unimaginative on the day, but I couldn't think of a decent colour to put as a base! Too dark and it hides the black, too light and it hides the holographic flecks. I've googled other swatches of this polish, looking for one that looks good with a different colour underneath, but swatches are lacking at the moment as it's such a new collection. I'll have to try again sometime - maybe a lavender purple, or shimmery blue? Let me know in the comments if you have any suggestions!

Red White & Hue, on the other hand, is quite a stunner and very American! It features red, white and blue hex glitters - some big, some small. As you can see, I've striped black down the middle of a couple of nails so you can see how the white looks against it (b-e-a-utitiful). The polish does leave a slight reddish tinge, which you only really notice on the second coat and I would've forgotten about it if I hadn't taken notes whilst swatching. This is two coats, layered over Revlon Black Lingerine and Sinful Colors Snow Me White.

A lot of the glitter in these polishes are matte, particularly Spark & Pepper and Candy Drops. It's not highly noticeable though. If you wanted more gloss, apply a normal or high gloss top coat, and if you wanted no gloss apply a matte one ☺.

Hope you like these swatches! Fruit Spritz is hands down my absolute FAV, but I do really like Red White & Hue as well. Let me know which ones you like.

Remember, if you're in New Zealand you can buy these from Farmers and selected pharmacies for $11.99. They've only just come out - released here in August 2014 so you'll be guaranteed a nice fresh bottle!

The polish shown in this post was provided to me by Sally Hansen NZ in exchange for my honest opinion.
